The Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the
People's Republic of China and the European Union on Industrial
Cooperation in the Fields of Aviation and Communication signed in
Beijing on October 29,1998 established the Cooperation Project
between China and the European Union on Civil Aviation Under this
project, the Agreement of Professional Master of Aviation Safety
Management (ASM), including Airworthiness Management and Flight
Operations was signed between the Civil Aviation University of
China (CAUC), the National Civil Aviation University of France (ENAC)
and the Aviation Polytechnical University of France (ENSICA).
In June 2001, the Academic Degrees Office under the State
Council officially approved the running of a course jointly by CAUC,
ENAC , ENSICA and EAFAS to carry out Master degree education on Aviation Safety Management in
China. In accordance with the agreement, a Master Degree will be awarded to students who have
completed the planned courses.
ASM Master Program project (named AW13) is implemented within
the framework of the EU-China Civil Aviation Co-operation Project,
supported by all above co-operation partners and contributors.
On November 17,2001, the first class of Aviation Safety Management?
Master Program officially began. 48 students (Airworthiness
Management: 23; Flight Operations: 25) were selected from various
aviation enterprises and institutions in China. They proceeded with
5 months full time studies at CAUC. Only those students who have
completed their curricula and satisfactorily presented their thesis
to the joint Jury of Chinese and French professors will be awarded
their ASM Master at the end of the program.

AMBA(MBA on Aviation) Program
The program of AMBA(MBA on
Aviation) , cooperated by Royal Melbourne Institute of
Technology(RMIT), is to train management talents. AMBA Students are
from Australia, as well as people working in civil aviation industry
in China, Taiwan, Singapore and Mexico etc.
Approved by Civil Aviation Administration of China(CAAC),
Civil Aviation University of China(CAUC) assists RMIT to recruit
students and conduct preliminary teaching and organization work in
China, and the two universities have signed the "Sistership
University Agreement" and "Education Cooperation Agreement" on this
Program.
The AMBA program conducted in China lasts one and half years with
three stages:
In the first stage(from September to January next year),
students study fundamental courses in CAUC for half year; This stage
covers: Sales & Marketing, Specialized English, Western Economics,
International Finance, Accounting Management, Management Treasurer,
Information Management.
In the second stage(February to August), students study
specialized courses in RMIT Australia for half year; specialized
courses in RMIT; This stage covers: Aviation Safety Management,
Civil Aviation operating Management, Aerodrome Management,
Organizing Behavior, Aviation Infrastructure Management, Aviation
Logistics, Airlines Strategy Management. During this period students
also do some thesis preparation. The courses will be taught in
English. The study will be very hard in this stage. Group discussion
will be organized combining with the teaching contents.
In the third stage(September-December), students design &
write thesis in China. In the end, students are required to defend
their thesis, and then they will be awarded the Master degree of
AMBA after they pass the defense (the certificates are the same as
those issued to the local students and recognized worldwide).
The AMBA Program in China has been successfully conducted for
four rounds in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002. The first intake included
23 students who were sponsored by CAAC. The second intake were 25
students, among them 15 students were sponsored by CAAC, 2 students
self paid, others were sponsored by their employers. The third
intake were 35 students, among them 16 students were sponsored by
CAAC, 11 students self paid, others were sponsored by their
employers. The fourth intake comprised 16 students, among them 8
students were sponsored by CAAC, 8 students self paid. Now we are
running the fifth round.

candidates have bachelor degree with at least two years working
experience in civil aviation industry; He has to pass IEFLS 6.5 of
English language test.
