An Introduction to CAUC Scientific Research

In the past 5 years, there has been rapid growth of scientific research in CAUC. CAUC has laid emphasis on the role of scientific research as a facilitator in both social service and quality upgrading. It has three CAAC research centers: Aviation Ground Special Equipments, ATM and Air Transport Economy & Management. It is currently application for the establishment of its key discipline research centers of Aviation: Maintenance and Airport Engineering, Mechanic Maintenance Engineering, Airport Engineering, Software Development, Aviation Safety, Telecommunications and Information Processing, Humanity and Social Science. The 12 research centers almost cover all the CAUC disciplines and has made achievements in the research areas of aircraft type selection, aircraft and engine trouble shooting, air traffic flow management, aviation safety, air transport economy & management, information engineering and computer science application. In the past 5 years, there has been an increase in Scientific Research funds by 30%, with 1260 high level academic papers and over 20 scientific and technological works published, and 23 provincial and ministerial level awards achieved. CAUC Journal and Civil Aviation Journal are the two main periodicals of CAUC. CAAC Key Research Centers include:

1. ATM Research Center with its study field in ATM basic theory and Application Software. The focuses are the technical research of air flow management, air space planning, and ATC technical evaluation & emulation.
2. Air Transport Economy & Management Science Research Center. It mainly focuses on such research areas as air transport environment, air transport economy and air transport disciplines.
3. Aviation Ground Special Equipments Research Center. Aviation Ground Special Equipments is the core technology, whose study field is integration technology. This research center is now working on typical mechanical structure, electric control and typical hydraulic system experiments. It has invented a number of such equipments as TKM Runway Frictional Factor Testing Vehicle and Airplane Tire Disassembly/ Assembly Machine, which are being put into practice.
