The CAUC
Library sits on the south campus. The main building occupies a
construction area of 1,4944 square meters. It is a five-story building.
One annex hall as large as 1,030 square meters stands just beside the
main building. It is equipped more than 300 seats. The hall assures good
acoustics. The library building is one of the most beautiful and modern
buildings in CAUC. The library provides a comfortable study space. The
aircraft model placed on the second floor hall exhibits the uniqueness
of CAUC. The decoration of green plants in the library signifies a
prosperous future of CAUC.
CAUC Library features its two collections of Boeing and
Airbus. Various manuals and other literature of the aviation field, such
as technical report and specifications have enriched the collection
rooms. CAUC is a member of RTCA organization. It enables CAUC’s
cooperation in resources utilization with some international
organizations.
The University Library houses now has approximately 360,000
volumes of books, about 886 kinds of Chinese and 213 foreign language
current periodicals, about seventy of newspapers, and more than 2,380
items of non-paper materials, including CD-ROM's, micro-films,
microfiches, videotapes, audio tapes, audio CD's, Laser Disks,
CD-titles, etc. The library also provides about 10 online databases. All
of them are available on the campus network. Users are capable of using
them any time during a day in their offices, dormitories, laboratories,
and faculty housings.
CAUC Library provides more than 1500 seats, with tables
spreading throughout the building. There are eight reading-rooms, two
self-study rooms, two classrooms and 15 small seminar rooms. More than
150 computers with a direct access to CERNET and INTERNET are placed in
the E-reading Room to provide and promote access to information
resources necessary in teaching, learning, research, creativity, and
community service.
"To put readers' needs on the first and serve them well” has always been
the maxim of library staffs.
In recent years, an increasing number of electronic resources
and digital resources have been made available in the Library or online.
These form an information center, which is all-directional, open,
multi-level, efficient and service. This center facilitates the
university on its way toward becoming a first-class university.
