Abstract:

Through the longitudinal tensile and compressive experiments on 3D-4 directional, 3D-5 directional, 3D-6 directional, 3D-7 directional braided composites and laminated composites with stacking sequence of [0/(45)2/90]2s and 0°one-way slab and 90°one-way slab all made by a same material, the main mechanical property parameters and failure mechanism are achieved and the effects of braided angle and its structure to longitudinal tensile and compressive properties of braided composites are studied. Results show that the braided angle is the main factore of longitudinal mechanical properties of 3D braided composite. The smaller braided angle is, the better longitudinal tensile and compressive mechanical properties become. Braided structure also has important effect on longitudinal mechanical properties. In addition, braided angle and structure have important effect on failure mechanism. These results can provide an experimental basis for further studies on theoretical research of braided composites.
