Abstract:

Turbulence detection of airborne weather radar is mainly based on the estimation of spectrum width, which is a crucial step. Besides the movement of atmospheric turbulence, the azimuth and beam width of the antenna as well as the motion of airborne platform may also lead to spectrum width increase, which would affect the accuracy of spectrum width estimating result for real turbulence. A method of turbulence spectrum width estimation based on space-time optimal processor is proposed to solve the above problem. The proposed algorithm can suppress the influence of interference factors with space-time adaptive processing principle and achieve an accurate estimation for the turbulence spectral width. Simulation result proves the method爷s effectiveness.
