Abstract: Taking civil aviation airports in China as the research object and using cross-section data of 2019 as the time window, a model of the relationship between airport digitization and carbon reduction is constructed. From the perspective of capability advanced evolution and complementarity, the relationship between digitization and carbon emissions under the viewpoint of construction scale and administrative division is analyzed, and the mechanism of digitization effect on airport carbon emission is tested. It is found that airport digitization can significantly suppress carbon emissions, and carbon intensity decreased 0.108% with every 1% increase in digitization level. The carbon emission reduction effect of digitization has obvious regional differences, while there is no scale effect. Digitization mainly realizes carbon emission reduction through improvement of management level and passenger service satisfaction by efficient resource allocation. The research conclusion of this paper can provide theoretical support and empirical evidence for propulsion of carbon peak and carbon neutrality in civil aviation based on digital technology
