Abstract:

Runway capacity is an important limiting factor of terminal capacity. The distribution of air traffic flow directly influences the degree of saturation in terminal airspace. To keep air flow stability and efficiency in terminal airspace,a flow control model based on runway capacity is established. The model considers the factor of nonsustainable busy runway impacting on capacity. Based on the actual data of Wuhan terminal, the model is used to calculate the runway capacity and its corresponding terminal capacity. Then, the separation of flow control is calculated for twenty-minute-interval mode and one-hour-interval mode taking into account the non-sustainable busy runway factor. Finally, corresponding air traffic flow control measures are made based on the assessment results, which accord with the practice and validate the feasibility and applicability of the proposed model and method.
