Abstract:

Several foreign hub airports have built the end-around taxiway, which has been proved effective. For China's airports with closely spaced parallel runways,end-around taxiways(EAT)are ready to be built. The configuration of runways with EAT is helpful for decreasing the aircraft movements of crossing runways, improving operation safety and reducing the workload of ATC controllers. A path selection optimization model for arriving aircraft taxiing is established and validated by SIMMOD simulation software with the data of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The calculation results show that the end-around taxiway has a significant effect for reducing aircraft ground taxiing time, especially in the condition of peak hours with large aircraft movement.
