Coherent Doppler lidar signal processing based on maximum likelihood estimation

Abstract: The accuracy of speed measurement is an important parameter of coherent Doppler lidar. Echo signal processing method is the focus of the current research. A series of velocity measurement experiments are carried out.Maximum likelihood discretization estimation is used to estimate the spectrum frequency, which is then realized by Matlab and simulation toolbox. Analysis of velocity measurement error combined with relevant parameters found that when correlation coefficient is higher, the velocity measurement error generally becomes smaller. The biggest velocity measurement error will be smaller than 0.5 m/s and the average error will be less than 0.3m/s using maximum likelihood estimation.
