Abstract:

The interface residual stresses in thermal barrier coatings during thermal cycling for different isolated oxides are modeled by using finite element analysis software ABAQUS. Sine and plane patterns are selected as typical interfaces feature of TBCs. It shows that the effect of oxide in the peak on the interface residual stresses is more significant compared with the oxide in the trough. With shorter distance between isolated oxide and TGO/BC interface, the influence of the isolated oxide on the interface residual stresses gets more serious. Besides, the shorer of the isolated oxide radius, the less effect of which on the interface residual stresses.
