College of Economics and Management

 

College of Economics and Management is one of the first three secondary colleges established by Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC). Featured by multi-disciplinary integration, it has formed a multi-level structure for graduate students, undergraduates and on-the-job training. It has the only one doctoral program for the first-level discipline (Safety Science and Engineering) in civil aviation, 2 first-level disciplines (Business Administration and Safety Science and Engineering), as well as 1 professional master's program for Master of Business Administration (MBA). College of Economics and Management offers six undergraduate programs, which are Business Administration (air transport management), Accounting, Financial Management, Logistics Management, Economy and Finance (aviation finance), and Safety Engineering. There are 117 faculty members, including 89 full-time teachers, 42 professors, 2 government subsidy experts of the State Council, 1 first-level and 2 third-level personnel training projects of 131 innovative talents in Tianjin, 1 civil aviation specialist, 3 young and middle-aged technical leaders of civil aviation, 2 Blue-sky scholars. In addition to that, more than 60 civil aviation enterprise executives are employed as visiting professors or postgraduates’ tutors. The team of "Advanced Fire-extinguishing Material Manufacturing Technology for Aircraft" was selected as the Tianjin university innovative team.

The college consists of 1 Tianjin university experimental teaching demonstration center (Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Air Transportation Economy and Management), 1 provincial level scientific research base under Civil Aviation Administration of China (Air Transportation Economy and Management Science Research Base), 1 first batch of University think tanks of Tianjin (Institute of Airport Economics) and 1 Civil Aviation Administration think tank (Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Civil Aviation Cooperative Development Research Center). There are also several research centers, including WTO and International Trade, Civil Aviation Law and Policy, Air Transport Commerce, Air Logistics, Aircraft Fire Prevention and Emergency, Safety and Quality Management, etc. In addition, the college is in cooperation with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) of Australia to cultivate Master of Aeronautical Business Administration (AMBA) for six periods. It creates the “3+1+1” mode of joint education with Embry-Riddle, a famous American aeronautical university. Being sophisticated and advanced in the fields of air transport planning, airport economy, aviation industry and park planning (including general aviation), air transport service trade, aviation commerce, civil aviation energy conservation and emission reduction, civil aviation safety, aviation emergency rescue and so on, the college has made remarkable achievements in scientific research. In recent 10 years, the annual research funds have maintained at the level of more than 10 million yuan.

Over the past 60 years, devoting to improving the overall management and international competitiveness of China's civil aviation industry, stressing the characteristics of civil aviation, focusing on teaching, carrying out instructions as "diligence, precision, discipline and innovation", the College of Economics and Management has been cultivating a large number of outstanding talents for civil aviation and other related industries. It has become an important base for the cultivation of civil aviation economic and managerial talents in China. After graduation, students mainly engage in airlines, airport groups, aviation manufacturing enterprises, banks, consulting companies, civil aviation colleges, civil aviation research institutions, government, etc. The employment rate is obviously better than similar institutions.

                           Business Administration ( Air Transport Management)

 

For the needs of the economic development and socialist modernization in the 21st, based on civil aviation, serving the society, the purpose of this program is to train all-round professionals with solid foundation, strong practical ability and innovative spirit, who can grasp the professional knowledge and skills in management, economy, operation and law; who can apply into relative works in management, teaching, scientific research and other work in enterprises and institutions, government and civil aviation units. Outstanding graduates can pursue master's degree in this major or related interdisciplinary disciplines.

Employment Orientation:

The program targets at production and operation management of air transport enterprises and air transport marketing. Graduates mainly engage in passenger and freight transport business, marketing, enterprise planning, human resources management, production and operation control management in airlines, airports and other civil aviation enterprises. In addition, students can go in for management, scientific research and teaching work in other enterprises, government, scientific research institutions and related institutions, or pursue a master's degree in this or related field.


Accounting

 

The program aims to train high-level practical and all-round professionals, who can grasp the knowledge and skills in accounting, management and economics, who can acquire the systematic theories of accounting and practical skills, who can comprehend and apply into practice the accounting standards both at home and abroad, China's accounting systems and modern accounting management methods, and who can analyze and solve practice problems in this field.

The program targets at fostering students with skills that needed in the development of socialist market economy and the modernization of civil aviation. The foundation courses and major courses are featured with the current of civil aviation transportation production and the operation law of socialist market economy. It pays more attention on the teaching of accounting theory and methods, and the cultivation of practical skills.

Featuring an integrated cultivate mode of platform and professional courses, besides foundation courses, the education program pays further emphasis on accounting, auditing, financial management and other related major courses in order to achieve the training objectives.

Financial Management

 

For the needs of the economic development and socialist modernization in the 21st century (especially the needs of civil aviation modernization), the program is committed to cultivating practical and all-round talents that have high ideological and political quality; grasp basic theories and knowledge of financial management; acquire the current advanced financial theories and methods; comprehend financial management methods and skills; understand national financial and financial laws and regulations; possess good ability in computer and foreign languages; analyze and solve practical financial problems.

The program targets at fostering students with skills that needed in the development of socialist market economy and the modernization of civil aviation. The foundation courses and major courses are closely related to the reality of civil aviation transportation production and the operation law of socialist market economy. It pays attention to the teaching of financial management theory and methods, and the cultivation of practical skills.

The teaching mode is featured by the integration of platform and major courses. Based on foundation courses, it further focuses on the primary related courses of accounting and finance to achieve the corresponding training objectives.

The program aims to advanced talents that have high ideological, moral and cultural accomplishment, master solid economic and management basic theories, acquire strong logistics practical operation ability, have innovative spirit, possess good ability in planning and design of air logistics and supply chain system, and are able to engage in operation, planning, design and management of logistics and supply chain systems in airlines, airports, logistics enterprises, research institutions and other enterprises and institutions related to logistics.

Economics and Finance

 

This program targets at cultivating practical and all-round professionals to be patriotic, uphold the socialist system, obey discipline and law, and have healthy personality and psychological quality. The program focuses on fostering innovative and cooperative financial talents who master systematic economic and financial knowledge and related skills, acquire systematic knowledge of air transport industry, can solve practical problems of aviation finance, and can be quick in the awareness of the current affairs both at home and abroad.

Relying on the development of air transport industry, the program is featured by the integration of general finance and characteristics of air transport industry. It is committed to developing advanced talents that have a solid grasp of general finance theory, practical knowledge, aircraft and air transport professional knowledge, as well as aviation finance knowledge which are essential for jobs as marketing and aircraft assets management before and after lease in aircraft leasing. On the basis of a “three-level” practical training, the ability to analyze and solve practical problems in finance, especially in aviation finance, will be improved in an all-round way.

The program serves Tianjin's economic construction and national economic and social development, takes responsibility for the construction of " strong aviation country ", focuses on major management issues of civil aviation, leads by promoting the international competitiveness of civil aviation transport enterprises and aims to improve the operational efficiency and economic efficiency of civil aviation transport enterprises, as well as trains advanced, practical and all-round civil aviation managers. The program is a comprehensive and people-oriented major involving life, nature, technology, society and system, whose core is safety. It focuses on civil aviation safety management, quality safety management and supervision, aviation human factors, safety information system, emergency rescue, dangerous goods air transport safety, aircraft fire prevention, etc. With more than ten years of development and construction, it has a strong and competent academic team, which has three distinct research directions: civil aviation safety and emergency management, aviation safety and human factors engineering, airport fire control and aircraft fire prevention technology.
