School of Law
First established in 2001 as a Department of Law in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department became a Faculty of Law in 2009. Today, the Faculty has 38 full time academic staff and two Departments, the Department of Law and the Department of Public Utilities Management.
The Faculty’s Research Center of Aviation Law & Policy has been approved as Tianjin Municipal Humanities and Social Science Key Research Base. It consists of the Institute of Aviation Law, the Institute of Aviation Policy, the Institute of Air Defense Safety and the Institute of Civil Aviation Culture. The Faculty has an Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Aviation Law, with laboratories and training institutions such as International Aviation Moot Court, Legal Clinic, Humanities and Social Sciences Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Base. In recent years, the faculty has undertaken more than 50 legal research projects authorized by the Ministry of Justice, Tianjin Social Science Fund, Civil Aviation Administration of China and Tianjin Municipal Education Commission. At present, the Secretariat of the Institute of Aviation Law of Chinese Law Society is headquartered in the Faculty of Law.
The Faculty of Law began to enroll law undergraduates nationwide in 2001. In 2012, for the first time, graduate students in civil and commercial law, international law, administrative law and criminal law were enrolled. It was approved the right to grant Juris Master degree in 2014 and enrolled the first Juris Masters majoring in aviation law in 2015. The Faculty, characterized by aviation law, works closely with the global aviation industry and combines jurisprudence with civil aviation practice organically. Now the Faculty has evolved a multi-leveled educational pattern across a variety of programmes.
The Faculty devotes itself to training outstanding legal talents for civil aviation industries and related social industries.
The Department of Public Utilities Management was merged into the Faculty in 2016, which further expanded the teaching and research fields of the Faculty from jurisprudence to public service administration.
The goal of the Faculty is to establish a teaching and research base of aviation law with outstanding discipline characteristics and great influence in the world.
Undergraduate Programs
The Faculty offers courses as follows: Jurisprudence, Chinese Legal History, Constitutional Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Law, Economic Law, Commercial Law, Civil Procedural Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Administrative Law and Administrative Procedural Law, International Law, Private International Law, International Economic Law, Labor Law, Air Insurance Law, Air Transport Law, Aviation Crime and Prevention, Civil Aviation Law Practice, Contract Law, Legal English, and Legal Document Writing, etc.
Training objective of the Faculty is cultivating advanced application-oriented and inter-disciplinary talents who are well-developed in morality and intelligence, satisfying the needs of market economy and civil aviation development in China, proficient in foreign languages, familiar with Chinese civil aviation law & concerning knowledge, and capable of applying knowledge to practice. The students majoring in law will be awarded Bachelors of Law degree and Masters of law degree.
The student may be employed by following employers: the legal departments of civil aviation administration, airlines, airports and civil aviation associations; National Legislature, Judicial and Administrative Organs; Arbitration tribunals, Law Firms; and other enterprises, institutions and social organizations, etc.

Educational objectives: Make students adapt to the economic construction of socialism modernization needs, develop morally, intellectually and physically, with modern management science, economics, public management and the basic theory of industry management and civil aviation related business knowledge. Students should also be familiar with the specialized related policies and aviation regulations. They can get jobs positions in the civil aviation authority, institutions, large and medium-sized enterprises. Students can also pursue graduate studies in management, economics and safety management.
Employment directions: Students can not only find their job chances in the civil aviation industry, but also in government organizations, NGOs, medium and large enterprises.
