The second Model ICAO Forum took place from 12 to 14 December 2018 in Shenzhen, China, as a side event of the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Global Summit. The event was aimed at raising awareness on issues pertaining to civil aviation inspiring the new generation of aviation professionals. The Forum engaged 180 university students, coming from 27 universities in 28 different countries. 10 students from Civil Aviation University of China participated in the forum.

Participants worked together in teams to propose approaches to a specific aviation case study and presented the outcomes of their work to a panel of aviation experts. Four simultaneous workshops took place, with prizes awarded for the winning submissions. The four themes of the workshops were:
• Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS): Aviation for Next Generation
• Dangerous Air Cargo
• The Socio-Economic Benefits of Air Transport
• Aviation Security: Strengthening Aviation Security Systems
Lv Jiawei, Director of the Student Affairs Department at CAUC noted, “It is the first time for CAUC students to attend the Model ICAO Forum. They have the opportunities to discuss the frontier and hotspot issues and provide solutions with students from other universities worldwide. It is a test of aviation professional knowledge for the students, and a good opportunity to improve their innovation awareness and international vision.

Feng Yicheng, a student from the College of Law at CAUC who attended the forum expressed that, “I’ve learnt a lot from this forum. During the evaluation process, the aviation experts focused on the practicability and feasibility of the solutions, which enlightened me to pay more attention to the analysis of practical problems, and solve problems in more realistic ways.”
