Professor Daniel Delahaye, head of Optimization Laboratory from ENAC, visited CAUC and gave an academic report to CAUC teachers and students.
The topic of Professor Delahaye’s report is “Airspace Design Optimization: Structure => Capacity”. Firstly, he introduced the historical development of air traffic management and airspace design in western countries. He also introduced in details the common models for air traffic flow complexity computation and airspace design. Later, he shared his lab’s recent research on trans-Atlantic air route design, European trajectory planning at strategic level and optimization design of approach and departure procedure at airport terminal areas.
Professor Delahaye suggested that when conducting civil aviation research, the researchers should make some field investigation on the practical issues of air traffic operation, and then propose different solutions based on specific circumstances.
Professor Delahaye’s visit provided an opportunity for CAUC’s air traffic control researchers to communicate with internationally renowned expert.
