The Opening Convocation for class of 2017 international students was held on September 15th, attended by Mr. Bai Jie, CAUC Vice President, Ms. Han Yan, Director of Academic Affairs Department, deans from several colleges and 25 students from six countries, including Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Guinea Bissau and Malaysia.
In his speech, Mr. Bai Jie welcomed the international students on behalf of CAUC. He pointed out that as a civil aviation university with 66 years’ history, CAUC offers the best civil aviation education in China. He hopes all the international students can achieve great academic success in CAUC.
Ms. Han Yan noted that the Academic Affairs Department has made specialized teaching plans for the international students in order to better serve them.
Adelina Tay, a freshman from Malaysia made a speech on behalf of the new students. She said, “Learning is the most important task for students. University life is a new start, and we should work hard continuously, just like spreading the best fertilizers on our own seeds, and harvesting the sweetest fruit.”
Makhamov Bobir from Uzbekistan told the reporter that, “civil aviation is an internationalized industry and the air traffic controllers are widely needed in many countries. That’s why I chose to study the major of Air Traffic Management here at CAUC.”
After the Opening Convocation, the International Affairs Department organized a trip to the University Museum for the new students, to help them get a better understanding of the university’s historical development.
