On October 19th, the Honorary Professorship Award Ceremony for Henry Frederick Schaefer III, world-famous chemist, was held at CAUC academic exchange center.
Professor Henry Frederick Schaefer III is the first honorary professor awarded by CAUC. He has been nominated by the Nobel Prize for five times. In 2004, he became a member of the U.S. National Academy of Science and was elected as “the world’s 50 most influential scientist”. Currently he is the Director of quantum chemistry computing center at Georgia University.
In his speech, CAUC President Dong Jiankang said that as the pressure of aviation safety increases along with the rapid development of China’s civil aviation, the fire safety and emergency have got more and more attention. He hopes Professor Schaefer can cooperate with CAUC research team to improve CAUC’s research abilities on aircraft anti-fire field, and solve key problems in the aviation fire safety and emergency.
Professor Schaefer expressed his willingness to cooperate closely with CAUC team and make his contributions to the China aviation fire safety and emergency.

After the ceremony, Professor Schaefer and CAUC agreed to establish a regular exchange and communication mechanism. Later, he also made two lectures for CAUC students.
