In order to meet the urgent needs of the Chinese civil aviation industry for advanced aviation engineering and technical talents, to significantly improve the quality and level of cultivating elite engineering and management talents, and to cultivate future aviation engineers with a sense of responsibility, rich engineering practice and innovation capability, GEA (Groupement des Écoles Aéronautiques et spatiales) and Civil Aviation University of China(CAUC) cooperated and established Sino-European Institute of Aviation Engineering(SIAE) in 2007 with utmost support from CAAC and DGAC, the Ministry of Education as well as the Chinese and European aviation companies. Milestones are as follows:
March 24th, 2004, CAAC, DGAC as well as Ministry of Education signed MOU in Tianjin；
October 18th, 2004, LOI was signed in Toulouse；
March 28th, 2005, Framework agreement was signed in Beijing；
March 28th, 2005, Annex 1 under the framework agreement was signed in Beijing；
February the 15th, 2006, “Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Application” was signed ；
November 21st , 2006, Chinese Ministry of Education assigned experts to assess this project；
April, 2007, Chinese Ministry of Education approved the establishment of SIAE.
