Lecture Title: Algorithm improvement and array optimization of microphone array in sound source localization

Keynote speaker: Ma Wei, Shanghai Jiaotong University

Time: June 28, 2017 10:00-12:00

Location: North  Teaching Building 24-101

Teachers and students are welcome to participate in the lecture.

Outline:

As the national economy continues to increase, human beings have become increasingly demanding when it comes to their living environment, including the growing intolerance of noise. At present, microphone array has been widely used in noise source location and noise reduction. At present, the current algorithm which is now widely used enjoys fast calculation speed, but with low spatial resolution, especially for low-frequency noise. The deconvolution algorithm developed in the early 21st century can effectively increase spatial resolution, but it requires a lot of computing time. First, the lecture will introduce a series of new algorithms on the basis of deconvolution algorithm. These algorithms retain the advantages of deconvolution algorithms, but they can greatly reduce the consumption of computing resources. The lecture then introduces some new thoughts on the optimization of microphone array based on the new algorithm.

Keynote speaker introduction:

Ma Wei, of Han nationality, was born in 1981. He graduated from the undergraduate and postgraduate study from BUAA(Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics). He also achieved the doctoral and postdoctoral degrees from École Centrale de Lyon. Now he is a lecturer at the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He has been engaged in the research of complex flow and sound source localization in aviation propulsion system. In the aspect of sound source localization, he has proposed a series of algorithms, which greatly improves the computational efficiency on the basis of guaranteeing the spatial resolution of sound source, and thus lays a foundation for fast and accurate sound source localization in engineering. His basic research work has been published in famous international journals such as Experiments in Fluids, Physics of Fluids, Journal of Sound and Vibration.
