The Tianjin municipality government held the 2010 Haihe Friendship Award ceremony on July 21th. Foreign expert Joel Flahaut was presented this honor. It was the first time that a CUAC teacher enjoyed this honor.
The Haihe Friendship Award was officially established in 2006 as an award for foreign experts who have had an outstanding impact on Tianjin’s economic and social development. The municipal government presents it as the highest honor for foreign experts working in Tianjin. Haihe Friendship award selection is held one time each year, whose winners are some ten people.
The winners of the Haihe Friendship Award can apply to the SAFEA for the Chinese government Friendship Award based on the approval of the municipal government.
A total of 193 Haihe Friendship Award winners were recommended by the municipal administration of foreign experts affairs for State friendship awards, 34 of them eventually won.
