董健康校长在中欧学院2018届毕业生典礼上的讲话
Speech Given by President Dong Jiankang at the 2018 Year Graduation Ceremony of SIAE Students.
Distinguished Mr. President of ENAC, Mr. President of ENSMA, respected Mr. Thbaut of DGAC, distinguished representatives from the business community, Dear teachers and students, Good afternoon!
The establishment of SIAE was witnessed by the care and efforts of the Chinese and French governments, the civil aviation authorities of the two countries, the higher education institutions of the two countries and the leaders of the aviation industry in both countries. SIAE has achieved fruitful results in the cultural exchanges, friendly cooperation, education integration and model innovation. SIAE has built a famous brand, accumulated related experience, and won the " Excellent Cooperation Project between Chinese and French Universities " award issued by the two governments, and has also been highly recognized by the industry and the business community. Dear students, you are so lucky to study in such a high-level education project, and you will benefit from it for the rest of your life.
SIAE has integrated French and Chinese engineering education modes, through 11 years’ effort, exploring the rules of multilingual, multidisciplinary as well as cross-cultural education. “The fragrance of plum blossoms sharpens in the bitter cold.” When you look back, you have succeeded in fighting your way through all the difficulties. You are a member of the high-level aviation engineering talents fostered by SIAE. On behalf of CAUC, I would like to extend my congratulations to all of you on the outstanding result of your study.
On the occasion of SIAE’s 5th graduation ceremony, I would like to take today’s opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the civil aviation administrations, education administrations and other government departments of both countries, , aviation enterprises and institutions as well as cooperative universities for their warm concerns and utmost supports.
Dear students! Your respected teachers are also present today. They have worked so hard for your studies. Your achievements today cannot be earned without their efforts and sweat. In the meanwhile, there are also some parents and relatives coming from afar, who contributed a lot in private to your peaceful life on campus. I propose all of you to give a warm applause to your dear teachers and relatives for the education and companionship they offered.
Dear students, tomorrow you will step into society. I hope that all of you will cherish your efforts and reputation in future work: on the one hand, keep your feet on the ground. No man can succeed without grassroots work experience. Because working in the frontier can bring you the inspiration of innovation. Therefore, it’s good to start from the very beginning to strengthen your skills, train the sensitivity of identifying problems and find solutions to problems. Human’s characters are the ways to face challenges of AI.
On the other hand, put theory into practice. You have experienced the baptism and mental training of highly intensive education. You also enjoy the qualities and genes endowed by innovative education. These advantages are the basis for further development. Making full use of the potential energy of these advantages is the best way to get kinetic energy. No man can succeed without adequate preparation, strong confidence or opportunities. Since you have already undergone rigorous training, you must further build the sense of taking on responsibilities, sensitively seize opportunities, bravely rise to challenges, overcome difficulties with confidence and abilities, achieve innovation with strength and endurance. Wherever and whenever you work, whatever you are working on, put theory into practice and strive for efficiency.
Now that you have completed studies and are about to start a new journey of life, there are more expectations. Wherever you will be in the future, you should pass down CAUC’s tradition of “ Discipline and Practicality”, firmly apply self-discipline, remain true to your original aspirations, march bravely forward and form the habit of life-long learning.
