 Speech Given by 2013 Promotion Student Zhang Teng at SIAE’s School Opening Ceremony for 2018 Promotion Students

 Dear leaders and students:

Good morning! It’s a great honor for me to meet you here at this grand opening ceremony of 2018 promotion. Please allow me, on behalf of SIAE student, to extend our warm welcome and sincere congratulations.

After years of hard work, you have realized your dreams and come to (CAUC) with passion and confidence. Finally, you chose SIAE to be the place where your dreams begin. From now on, a blueprint of your own university is on display. You may be excited about the realization of your dreams, be full of expectations for a new life, or be embarrassed about the unknown. Whatever kind of mood you may harbor at this moment, the next seven years of campus life will record your pursuit of excellence.

I believe that many students want to make contributions to civil aviation of China and chose SIAE like me. The minute I became a member of SIAE, I was sure that I made a wise decision. SIAE enjoys renowned teachers at home and abroad, outstanding study environment,  internships opportunities and high-level teaching and researching facilities. It is such a wonderful to enrich and improve oneself. Some people may doubt, “If you choose SIAE, you have chosen to suffer.” What is your opinion? I don’t agree with them. Although the seven-year campus life at SIAE is destined to require us more focus and endeavor, it will surely be worth the effort.

It is a habit to be excellent. Every day I have spent at SIAE has deepened my understanding of this sentence. Others may take SIAE as a mysterious building that never lights out before 10 o’clock every night. I know she is more than that, because I can feel the spirits of both teachers and students once I entered our institute: their tenacity, perseverance, and fearlessness. “Science, Innovation, Aviation, Excellence” , the motto of SIAE, bestow us honor, and tell us the mission.

Thanks to SIAE, we can stand on an international stage and enjoy the an unique education that integrates China and the west. Rich resources of SIAE seem to make nothing impossible. However, the road to excellence will be full of twists and turns. We feel pleased to acquire  advanced knowledge, experience Chinese and western culture, we are proud of the rapid development of domestic technology, but at the same time we are stressed about the responsibility as a student of civil aviation. Faced with these challenges, I want to ask “Are you afraid?” “Will you give up?” I believe that no one will give up. Since you make the choice, you should try your best to finish. Don’t forget your original aspiration, and never stop on your journey. As the fresh blood of SIAE, you will create the future of SIAE.

Finally, please allow me to say “Congratulations!” to the 2018 freshmen who are already and will always be SIAE students.
