Master the Techniques for Interview with Professional Guidance

On the morning of April 13, 2017, the 2015-grade postgraduate students of SIAE held a symposium to share experiences on interview. Mrs. Wang Jinhong, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute, taught the students how to achieve well during an interview and guide the students to improve their self-awareness and confidence in the upcoming interviews.

At the beginning of the symposium, Mrs. Wang said: the key to win the interview is to know yourself as well as to know the interviewer. The interview is like a smokeless war without, job seekers need to understand themselves, soberly recognize their own strengths and weaknesses, and make full preparations for the interview. By combing both theories and practices, Mrs. Wang shared the methods and suggestions for how to make a satisfactory self-presentation for five different types of interviews, from structured interviews, situational interviews, stress interviews, behavioral interviews, and leaderless group discussions.

Subsequently, the teacher randomly asked the three students as interviewers to represent an airline that enjoys prosperous business in five southeastern Chinese provinces. Then, another three students were chosen as interviewees to apply for three different positions: sales, marketing, and maintenance. The six students performed a mock interview before the audience. The interviewers' question started with self-introduction and gradually addressed more difficult questions such as how to achieve high-efficiency learning and core competence, and finally poses challenging questions about the location of work and expected salary. The three interviewees calmly faced and responded to them, by wisely integrating their answers with their own advantages, such as their internship experience and campus activities. The audience students were amazed by their excellent performance.

In the session of give comments, the students who did not have the chance in the mock interview actively gave their suggestions to the three interviewees from the aspects of tone, matching with the job intention and so forth. Then Mrs. Wang made her own comments from different aspects and hilariously remarked that this was the first time that the interviewers were overpowered by the interviewees. At the end of the meeting, Mrs. Wang gave some tips in preparation for the interview, how to prepare for the interview questions and how to master interview techniques, and as well as how to write a letter as the appreciation for the interview. She emphasized that long-term practice is particularly important for interviewees and also remarked that students with honorable character will be respected in the interview as well as in the future job career.
