SIAE Convened Symposium on the Intention to Pursue Doctorate Degree

  At 16:00 on January 9, 2017, SIAE of Civil Aviation University of China convened the Symposium on the Intention to Pursue Doctorate Degree. The symposium was held in the large conference room of SIAE, and the participants included Mr. Yang Xinsheng, the Dean of Sino-European Institute of Aviation Engineering, Mrs. Wang Jinhong, the deputy secretary of Party Committee, the head of each teaching office of various majors, as well as the students with the intention to pursue doctorate degree. This symposium aimed to enable postgraduate students who were interested in pursuing a doctorate degree to have a deeper understanding of their future research careers, to familiarize themselves with the process of applying for doctorate degree at home and abroad, and to increase their enthusiasm for further study.

 Dean Yang Xinxuan first delivered a speech. He said that all the classmates here have lofty ideals and ambitions and was very pleased to see so many faces full of vitality showing a desire for knowledge and scientific research. As an elite engineering college in China, Sino-European Institute of Aviation Engineering aims to fully learn from the training model and experience of the French training model of elite engineers, and to train students with into bilingual, compound aviation engineering and management elite with profound mathematical and physical basis, professional knowledge in variously broad areas, excellent capability in engineering practice and innovation, and skills in cross-cultural communication and communication. SIAE students should base themselves on civil aviation and serve the industry. Civil aviation industry belongs to the tertiary industry, however, SIAE students should develop themselves in line with R&D and manufacturing industries at the secondary level. In the future, whether the students want to enter R&D and manufacturing units or research universities, it is not enough to have only a master's diploma and an engineer's academic title. Without solid scientific research capabilities and rich scientific research experience, it is difficult to achieve the purpose. Therefore, Mr. Yang encouraged everyone to persist in this road of scientific research.

 At the symposium, all the students expressed their own future plans for life and thoughts and doubts about pursuing doctorate degree. For different professional fields, the heads of each teaching office of various majors also put forward guidance and suggestions for pursuing doctorate degree and answered the students' questions about the doctoral application process, the differences between domestic and foreign doctoral studies, and the preparation and requirements for doctoral studies. Mrs. Niu Yifan, the teacher in the materials and structural system, pointed out that applying for a doctoral degree is not for future job. Such as choice is not made due to non-satisfactory job, but should be made out of passion for scientific research. Only with enthusiasm can we continue to conduct in-depth research, and to review literature and write papers and deem these as enjoyment. We hope that everyone will strengthen their beliefs, and strengthen their passion for scientific research, and go further on the road of academic pursuit.

 After the meeting, the students expressed that they had learned a lot. The encouragement and suggestions from the teachers were like a beacon which clarified the direction for the future. They will apply the standards of doctoral students as their own standards and continue to struggle for China's civil aviation and national dreams.
